Bishop Andrei V. Newbon

Bishop Andrei Vashon Newbon serves as the Pastor of Community Temple Church of God in Christ in Decatur, Illinois. His love for the gospel of Jesus Christ has been a constant anchor in his life and has given him direction, comfort and guidance.

 

Bishop Newbon is a lifelong resident of Decatur, Illinois. He is the son of the late Bishop Willie F. Newbon and Lady Pat Newbon. He received his education in the Decatur Illinois School System and continued his studies at Richland College, where he studied architectural drafting. He retired from Ameren Illinois Electric & Gas Company after 37 years of service.

 

He was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost in 1974, at the early age of 13 years old. Bishop Newbon was ordained an Elder in 1998, by the late Bishop Theodore Taylor Rose. Because of his unwavering love for the Church Of God In Christ, he has served the church in various administrative capacities, including Jurisdictional Y.P.W.W. President, AIM Chairman, Assistant State Minister of Music, Jurisdictional Finance Committeeman, Instructor for the C.H. Mason Bible College, Administrative Assistant, Personal Adjutant to the Bishop, Special Assistant to the Bishop, District Superintendent and many more.  Bishop Newbon has faithfully attended and supported the National Holy Convocation and the General Assembly. He has attended the meetings since age 11, only missing one (1) in 50 years.

 

Bishop Newbon is a gifted musician. As a child, he prayed, anointed his hands with oil, and asked God to anoint him to play. God did just that! He has played saxophone, drums, guitar, keyboard, and organ. He continues to have a love for music.

 

He has been married to Marcia Newbon for 33 years. They are the blessed parents of two children, Andrenique, Alexander and daughter-in-love, Ashley. They are the ecstatic grandparents of one granddaughter Aaliyah. Bishop Newbon is the brother of Leslie C. Newbon, Eric L. Newbon (Holly & family), and Sacorea L. Newbon.
